Legal empowerment since 1985.
Multiple Action Research Group works for the legal empowerment of vulnerable people — women, children, persons with disabilities, dalits and the poor — because a good way to ensure justice is to legally empower people to demand it.

A research group that acts.
MARG was established in 1985 by Dr. Vasudha Vasanti Dhagamwar, whose work with tribal communities displaced by the Sardar Sarovar Dam showed how far the law was from the people it was meant to protect.
Four decades on, MARG works on displacement and rehabilitation, legal literacy, and the rights of women and children — and increasingly on digital rights, cybercrime and alternative dispute resolution.
A world where the rule of law secures human rights, justice and democracy.
To promote legal empowerment and access to justice.

Dr. Vasudha Vasanti Dhagamwar
A scholar of English literature, economics, politics and legal history, with degrees from Oxford and Mumbai University. An Ashoka Fellow (1982), she was known for her advocacy on the rights of displaced persons — and for insisting that the law be written in a language people understand.
